Con Watch: Game-A-Lot 2016

Get your gaming strategies and dice skills at the ready for this weekend’s 16th annual Game-A-Lot. A charity tabletop event, Game-A-Lot 2016 features three days worth of board game fun—all for a good cause. Since its inception in 2000, the event has raised more than $10,000 for the St. Albert Food Bank. This year brings several changes, including a new location at the St. Albert Kinsman Banquet Centre and a new charity: the St. Albert Family Resource Centre.

How does it work?

Register for Game-A-Lot (early bird pricing is $30 for the weekend or $20 for a single day) and sign up for the games you’d like to play. There’s a full schedule of gaming events to choose from, with set times for each one. Casual gamers can also drop-in without signing up for any scheduled games, choosing from Game-A-Lot’s casual tabletop collection provided by Mission: Fun & Games.

Registrants can also sign up to host their favourite games, choosing whether they’d like to play alongside the rest of the group or not. Hosts must have a copy of their game in complete working condition to bring to the event.

What is there to do at Game-A-Lot?

Join likeminded gamers at your favourite hosted tabletop games, pick a new game to play casually, enter the Play It to Win It game, browse the silent auction, and enjoy a grilled hot dog!

What are the prizes like and how do we win them?

Attendees can win baskets that will be raffled off over the course of the weekend, bid on items from the silent auction, or win prizes through hourly prize draws. Game-A-Lot is also bringing back their photo contest, the winner of which will get a $50 McBain Camera gift card. There will also be a Play It to Win It game—keep checking the website for more details.

Game-A-Lot takes place Friday October 21 (4pm-12am), Saturday October 22 (9am-12am), and Sunday October 23 (9am-7pm) at the Kinsmen Club of St. Albert (47 Riel Drive, St. Albert). More information about the event can be found on their website.
